Wills and bequests

By leaving a gift to Indigenous Community Volunteers in your will, you can help. Our bequest program assists us to grow our services across Australia so that we can work together with more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We understand that there are many questions you may have in regards to how to go about leaving a bequest to Indigenous Community Volunteers in your will. We hope we can help answer them quickly and efficiently for you.

Why make a Will?

While family comes first when making a Will, there can be room in your plans for helping others outside your family. If improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is important to you, giving to Indigenous Community Volunteers in your Will is your opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful gift.

Your Will is an important legal document. To ensure that it meets your wishes and legal requirements, seek advice from your solicitor or The Public Trustee. Your local state Law Society may also offer direction and assistance.

To include a charity as an additional bequest to your current Will, simply add a codicil naming to the beneficiary.

What can a bequest to Indigenous Community Volunteers include?

Your bequest to Indigenous Community Volunteers Australia can include cash or securities, life insurance policies, annuities or trusts, real estate, collectibles, property and the residue (or a percentage) of your estate. The exact nature of the bequest is entirely up to you.

What is the suggested wording?

There are many different wording options for a bequest, dependent upon the form of bequest you wish to make. Indigenous Community Volunteers can provide wording for a standard Will leaving a bequest to us, but we do recommend that you take this to your solicitor or The Public Trustee for further discussion to ensure that your Will reflects your wishes accurately. Please contact us on (02) 6122 6444 or bequest@icv.com.au to have a copy of the recommended wording sent to you.

Why tell Indigenous Community Volunteers Australia you have left a bequest in you will?

Your bequest confirmation enables Indigenous Community Volunteers to acknowledge and thank you for your support, in your lifetime, and; Indigenous Community Volunteers can better plan and invest in future programs with your bequest confirmation.
