Call for regional Queensland volunteers
Over the past 11 years, we have been very fortunate to work with many enthusiastic and resilient Indigenous communities across Australia. But today we want to make special mention of communities in urban and regional Queensland; elders and aunties, brothers and sisters in towns and hubs like Cherbourg, Logan, Inala, Mount Isa, Townsville and Cairns.
These communities have creative visions for their future and are committed to reducing disadvantage.
ICV is working to increase the number of active and available volunteers already living in or near these communities. We aim to match volunteers to community development projects close to home in order to build ongoing relationships whilst reducing the need for accommodation and other costs.
Skills that we are short of are trades (qualified tradies are always in demand, from electricians to plumbers, labourers and landscapers), community development, website design and business development.
We are actively recruiting volunteers in the local areas of the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Kilcoy, South Brisbane, Mount Isa, Townsville and Cairns. The good news is that these communities want to work more intensely with us.
Can you help? Do you have skills to share and a passion to make a difference?
ICV believes in recognising and harnessing the strengths and assets of communities. We also believe that our volunteers are one of our greatest assets. Without their time, passion and commitment we couldn’t do what we do in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Please forward this to your friends and networks and share the possibilities to make a difference supporting Indigenous Communities. Contact the ICV Volunteer Team on 1800 819 542 for more information.
