ICV Partners with Shell
ICV has welcomed a new and strengthened three-year partnership with Shell.
Shell will provide $2.7 million in funding for ICV as part of the company’s social investment portfolio for 2011-2014. The investments focus on supporting community organisations to tackle educational disadvantage.
The company’s commitment to supporting education was celebrated at a function at Parliament House in late November hosted by The Hon Jenny Macklin MP, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
“Shell views education as critical to opening up choices in life - it enables youth to seize opportunities, helping them to fulfill their potential,” said Ann Pickard, Country Chair of Shell in Australia.
“We are looking forward to continuing the relationship with ICV over the coming years, “Ms Pickard said at the celebration event.
Speaking on behalf of the 23 community organisations supported by Shell, CEO of Indigenous Community Volunteers (ICV) Stephanie Harvey, said education and training are essential to strengthening disadvantaged communities.
“Each of the organisations represented here today knows that it will take time to make a long term, sustainable difference in our respective communities,” said Stephanie.
“This is why Shell’s three year commitment is crucial – it is an investment in people and sustainable change for the future.
“We are out there in community – doing the doing. We’re getting results because we listen to what people want and work with them to achieve their goals. But we can’t do it without vital financial support,” Stephanie said.
