STORY OF CHANGE – ABORIGINAL MALES HEALING CENTRE (AMHC) (WA)

Produced as part of our Action Research Project, this case study centres on the Aboriginal Males Healing Centre (AMHC), a not- for-profit, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, based in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

AMHC’s vision is for all Aboriginal women and children to live safe and healthy lives free of family violence. This case study touches on why this is important to them, as well as their unique governance that reflects that they exist in two worlds.

AMHC first invited Community First Development to work with them in 2016, and we have since supported them, along with other pro-bono stakeholders, to take several key steps towards achieving their dream. This case study focuses on how we worked together, what has been achieved and what we learnt.

The story of this partnership is a good example of how our collaborative approach and diverse range of skilled volunteers can provide a holistic support system (as required) for a strong community with a bold dream.
