Gulgen Care are meeting the health needs of their community - NSW

We recently worked alongside Gulgen Care Limited, a culturally appropriate aged care and disability support service delivery for the local Aboriginal community in Alstonville, NSW, on a strategic development plan to guide the organisation for the next five years.

Our skilled volunteer, Russell, worked closely with the community through video meetings over several months to create the plan, which included a whole new customer service strategy and steps to expand service delivery throughout the northern rivers.

Gulgen Care was established in April 2020. They are the only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Non-Registered NDIS Service Provider in the Lismore area, so their work is crucial to meet the needs of the Aboriginal community.

We were delighted when Gulgen Care invited us to work on two more projects with them — a fundraising training project and a governance project.

For the fundraising training project, Gulgen Care requested the assistance of an experienced volunteer to provide support for a better understanding of fundraising and financial literacy. The goal is then to develop a fundraising strategy and employ an individual to carry out the activities.

And for the governance project, Gulgen Care invited a skilled volunteer to provide the Board of Directors with training in corporate governance. This is an important requirement under their strategic development plan — especially as a newly developed organisation looking to provide home care to people with disability in the community.
